Dr. Yorgason joined Dr. Paparella and the Paparella Ear, Head and Neck Institute in 2016. Dr. Yorgason obtained his medical degree at Columbia University in New York, and did his residency at the University of Utah. He performed research prior to residency on ototoxicity and hearing restoration in Los Angeles at the House Ear Institute, which he continued while at the University of Utah. He obtained advanced training in cochlear implantation, and spent two years as an adjunct faculty at the University of Utah and helped Dr. Clough Shelton with the resident temporal bone dissection lab. He then went on to obtained formal fellowship training at the Paparella Ear, Head and Neck Institute in Minneapolis, where he worked with Dr. Michael Paparella, and helped with their cochlear implant program. During that year, he had the privilege to do a mini-fellowship at the Helsinki University Department of Otolaryngology, collaborating with Dr. Jussi Jero and Colleagues and helped with the epitympanic dissections in the Palva Temporal Bone laboratory. After his fellowship, he worked for two years in Bismarck, North Dakota for Sanford Health, where he established a cochlear implant program and provided otology services to patients in remote areas. He was a clinical professor with the University of North Dakota, and enjoyed working with students interested in otolaryngology and ear surgery. He now happy to be returning to Minneapolis/St. Paul to continue the Paparella Cochlear Implant program, as well as to work with fellows as the director of the clinical fellowship program.
